Exciting news! We have evidence that suggests that the yellow fever mosquito did not originate in Africa, as is commonly assumed. Analysis of Ae. aegypti and its closer relatives from the Southwest Indian Ocean islands suggest that Ae. aegypti arouse in this islands and move to Africa <85,000 years ago.
